3.0 Simulating the Design
In this section of the tutorial, you will learn to configure and run
all three SIMPLIS analysis types:
- A basic transient simulation which is the most intuitive.
- A Periodic Operating Point (POP) analysis in which you add a POP
trigger symbol which uses the switching node as its periodic input.
This POP trigger subcircuit is unique to SIMPLIS and contains a reference
voltage and comparator. The POP trigger device tells SIMPLIS which
top-level node defines the analysis period for the Periodic Operating
Point analysis. This schematic node must be the lowest frequency signal
which is periodic with the converter switching period.
- An AC Analysis in which you add a modulator, AC injection source
and MOSFET gate driver and rewire the schematic. This MOSFET general-purpose
gate driver is a custom SIMPLIS subcircuit that is called the Totem-Pole
Output Driver.
After you complete all of these analyses, your schematic should look
like this:
